Tourism in Cyprus by the Numbers 2025-2026
Tourism is one of the main demand drivers for rental real estate in Larnaca. Here is the current situation based on the official airport data of Cyprus.
2025: A Record Year
The year 2025 was a record year in the history of Cypriot tourism: approximately 13.75 million passengers passed through the two airports of the island (Larnaca and Paphos), an increase of about 12% compared to 2024. Larnaca Airport - the main gateway to the island - served about 9.9 million passengers.
Monthly Records in Summer 2025
In July 2025, the highest monthly record ever was registered - about 1.65 million passengers at both airports combined. In August 2025, Larnaca alone served about 1.3 million passengers, compared to about 1.2 million the previous year.
2026: Some Moderation
In the first half of 2026, a slight decrease was recorded compared to the 2025 peak: about 5.4 million passengers at both airports (compared to 5.7 million in the same period in 2025), of which about 3.8 million through Larnaca. In June 2026, a decrease of about 1.7% in the number of tourists was recorded compared to June 2025, and the total entries from January to June 2026 decreased by about 10.1% compared to the same period last year.
How to Read the Data Correctly
After an exceptional record year, a slight decrease in the following year is a reasonable and known phenomenon in the tourism sectors - and does not necessarily indicate a long-term downward trend. The absolute numbers still remain historically high compared to the years preceding 2025.
The Implication for Real Estate
A busy tourism season, even if slightly less than the record year, continues to support stable demand for rental properties - both short-term and long-term - in the Larnaca area.
